1999 MVP Summit!

The 1999 Most Valuable Professional Summit was held the end of September at Microsoft in Redmond (Seattle), Washington.

These summits are a great opportunity for MVPs to meet with colleagues and Microsoft folks who we work with over the years, learn new technologies, and have a little time to socialize...thereby strengthing our bonds.

Beautiful city of Seattle!

Our fearless leader, Connie, welcomes MVPs to the Summit and the first night welcome party.

Connie handles all the work while the rest of us get to enjoy our welcome party.

Rick and Kip enjoying the party.

Word MVP, Terry Farrell, also having a good time.

MVPs: Ture Magnusson and Tom Porterfield

My personal favorite MVP...
Greg Chapman!

Dian's "grandson"...
Tommy Lee!
(Enjoying a Guinness.)

Party animal, Ovidiu Popa

Word MVP, Jonathan West.

Excel guru, Rob Bovey, checkin' in.

Mark-Allan (center) wondering "where's that waitress with my drink!"

'99 MVPs present our leader (at that time), Connie, with some gifts of appreciation for all the hard work she does on our behalf!

(Waterford crystal vase and desk clock.)

OK...the drinks are working, time to cut loose! (MVPs Rob Scoble and Tom Koch.)

PARTY!

Early to rise for our first training session.

Jim...former MVP who hired on with Microsoft...as did his wife, another former MVP, Carmen...welcomes us.

On with the training.

Our opportunity to get a jump on new technology.

Word "buddy," Kathy and MVPs Cindy Meister and Bob Buckland in a Word support discussion session with Word product folks.

Word MVPs in a discussion session with TechNet staff regarding improvements to the Microsoft knowledgebase articles.

MVPs are treated to a dinner cruise on Lake Washington.

Our table

MVPs...Greg Chapman, Dian Chapman (formerly Dian Chesney) and Suzanne Barnhill.

Bill Gates' house...as we go by it really fast!

(So WHY didn't I get a better picture? Cos' I was so excited to get the shots that I didn't realize that I still had the minicam on pause! DUH!)

Gettin' silly on the bus ride after the cruise (and sufficient drinks).

Buddy check!

(Long story)

Getting dizzy???

Our hotel lobby, looking down from the glass elevator.

A reception held for MVPs in one of Microsoft cafés...this one is the Waterfall Café. (Note the waterfall outside.)

A little quiet time at The Quiet Bar (although it certainly wasn't when it was full of MVPs!)

Terry, Jessie Louise, Bob, Greg and Dian.

Connie with more MVPs

They're EVERYWHERE!

Next day...back to Microsoft Campus for more classes.

Gee...guess what they do in THIS building?

Intro to the Office development leads.

MVPs are given an opportunity to comment on possible improvement to Microsoft Office.

Everyone gets ten vote to place on those issues of improvement that are most important to us and those we support in the Microsoft newsgroups.

Interesting results!

We discuss our opinions with the Office Dev team in further detail.

Ahhh...MS LUNCH!

MVPs munchin' again.

Apparently SOME people don't LIKE having their pictures taken! <g>

Look out! It's those wacky PowerPoint MVPs!

And look! They brought their mascot!

Time for some group shots. Some of the Word MVPs.

(Word lead, Kathy (at that time); Cindy Meister, Bill Coan, Dian Chapman (formerly Dian Chesney), Greg Chapman, Terry Farrell, Suzanne Barnhill; Doug Robbins, Bob Buckland.)
