1997 MVP Summit!

The 1997 Most Valuable Professional Summit was held the second week of May at Microsoft in Redmond (Seattle), Washington.

These summits are a great opportunity for MVPs to meet with colleagues and Microsoft folks who we work with over the years, as well as have a little time to socialize, thereby strengthing our bonds.

There's also the training from Microsoft insiders, and we generally cause havoc on the peaceful, layed-back Microsoft Campus.

Ok, so we've arrived in Redmond...NOW what do we do? What else...HIT THE BAR!

Dian Chapman & Brian Reilly

Dina & Susan

Susan Daffron drove all the way from Idaho, just for a beer.

Talk about devotion! But is it to us...or the Seattle Microbrewers?

Dina Pavlis (Word CSP & Newly elected MS/MVP...Yeah, Dina) & Susan Daffron (Word MVP)

"Nurse" Dina trying to convince us these are not all her drinks! (Dina, maybe if you'd take that lamp shade off your head, we'd believe you!)

Dina Pavlis (Word CSP & newly appointed MVP)

That Cindy! Always muggin' for the camera!

Susan Daffron (MS Word MVP) & Cindy Meister showing off her new manicure (MS Word MVP/CSP Sysop for Word Forum)

Mr. Reilly is clearly not impressed with our antics.

Peggy is obviously amused!

(Hummm...wonder how long I'll still be an MVP once she sees this pic?)

Peggy Vetkoetter...one of the best "buddies" an MVP can have!

FlyGuy honors us with his presence.

FlyGuy (softie), Sid Siddiqui (softie), Mike Chafin (Internet MVP), Dina's hubby, Dan.

More people line up for photos with Bill!
(Note all the smokers hiding out on the fantail!)

Dian Chapman (Word MVP/CSP) and Bill Cheek (DTS MVP) enjoying the Seattle skyline.

Greg goes to great lengths to get the picture just right!

A very determined Greg!

While the "normal" people line up for dinner...the troublemakers lay back and enjoy the Seattle SUNSHINE (that's right, beautiful weather!), as well as enjoying each other's company.

Blake, Mike, Dian, Brian, Peggy & 1/2 of Dina!

Beautiful photo op on a beautiful day!

Portions of the Evil Twin Network...Dian, Cindy, Dina & Peggy!

Driftwood Decorating 101 (Didn't we do a georgeous job!)

Thomas Lee (BackOffice MVP) and Dian Chapman (Word MVP)

All good things must come to an end! :-(

Coming back into the dock after a marvelous day!
(That tall blue building in the background is where Dina works!)

Time for some serious studies.

MVPs have the opportunity for some special MS training.

(Bill Cheek front and center.)

MVPs have an opportunity to learn about future technology.

Days of training...lots of cool stuff!

Microsoft's version of Pappa Smurf, Wayne Cook, demos some new technology!

Greg's wearing a tie!! QUICK...get the cameras!

Greg Chapman (DTS MVP), who loves to be different, entered to a roomfull of applause...as the usual computer geek general dress code for the rest of us, goes out the window!

David Bymaster's speech thrills the masses.

(Pssst....Greg, wake up Cindy!)

Heavy 1s and 0s conversations? Nope...airplanes!

Daniel Chenault (softie...and his Dad's uncle was General Claire Lee Chenault...of Flying Tigers fame in WWII)., Greg Chapman (DTS MVP) and Ron Chamberlin (Automap MVP) involved in a heavy WWII conversation about the Flying Tigers! (Very cool stories!)

A beautiful sunny day calls for a little relaxation on campus.

Ron Chamberlin (Automap MVP), Dian Chapman (Word MVP) and Greg Chapman (DTS MVP)

The summit winds down...an opportunity to say some last goodbyes.

Mike, Colleen, Ross and Greg...a little final chit chat before we close up shop.

It's so hard to say goodbye!

Sue and Greg..."I'm gonna miss ya!"

"But I don't wanna leave!!!"

Brian Reilly...is obviously sad about having to say goodbye!
