Memorials

These wonderful pals of ours have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.

After all the laughter, love and friendship they unconditionally added to our lives...we know they will never be forgotten...

  • Odie Chesney
    [Chapman]

    [Memorial]
Odie was a scared, shy dog who had obviously been abused when Stacy/Mark adopted him. But soon he warmed to their love and became the clown who added lots of laughter into their lives. Sadly, he was taken by a sudden illness...much too soon!

  • Jack Chesney
    [Chapman]

    [Memorial]
Jack was a sweet little gentleman Eskie who brought joy not only to Stacy and Mark, but to all who met him. Cancer took him in Sept, 2006.

  • Nala Chapman
    [Memorial]
Our litte "Nala Bear" Chapman has sadly gone to be with her puppyhood friends,
    Kiko and Sheba!

  • Starla Chapman
    [Memorial]
Stacy Chesney's sweet kitty, who brought us love and laughs, suddenly left us!

  • Kiko Chapman
    [Memorial]
German Shepherd and Dian's wonderful pal and guardian.

  • Sheba Chapman
    [Memorial]
Mixed Sheltie and Stacy's childhood best buddy.

Bark in the Park Pet Charity Walk

Bark in the Park, Chicago, May 2, 2009!
Stacy and Simon & Dian and Shelby will be walking Bark this year. Please sponsor us here: http://www.firstgiving.com/BarkerGang

Come back after the walk to see who won Office 2007 (anyone who donates at least $10 to our walk is eligible to win!) and also see our pics (we WON'T forget our cameras this year!<g>)

Bark in the Park, Chicago, 2008!
Although we did participate in Bark 2008 and managed to raise $390 for the animals, it was one of those rough days. Stacy and I had both been sick the days prior, the weather was rotten and rainy, I didn't bring my camera and although Stacy did...her batteries were dead! HA...so we didn't get pictures this year, but thank everyone who donated.

Bark in the Park, Chicago, May 5, 2007!
Lexi did it! This reactive dog, who go nuts when she sees other dogs in the park...was overwhelmed at Bark in the Park 2007. And thanks to my trust in Cesar Millan's (The Dog Whisperer) "people training," I believed she would walk with the "pack" without issue...and she did! But more important...we raised over $2,800 to help dogs and cats! See our pictures from Bark 2007, HERE.

Bark in the Park, Chicago, May 6, 2006!
See our pictures from this year's walk...thanks to all who sponsored us! This year, we raise over $1,600, between Stacy and Dian with Shelby and Cassy. Click HERE to view our Bark 2006 photos.

Bark in the Park, Chicago, May 7, 2005!
Thanks to everyone who sponsored Shelby and me to help homeless dogs and cats find good homes. We raised $625 for Anti-Cruelty Society of Chicago. See all the cool doggies in our Bark 2005 pictures HERE.

Dogs in our Lives!

"We aren't house proud. If we were, we wouldn't abide the scratches on the door frame, the holes in the screen, the darkened shine of worn spots on the chair. We would wince at the mottled carpet and fret at the hair clinging to our clothes.

"We don't. If anything, we lovers of dogs, are a tolerant lot, finding greater value in the unabashed affection of our friends than in immaculate sofas. Shoes can be replaced, but heroic retrievers are timeless.

"Without dogs, our houses are cold receptacles for things. Dogs make a fire warmer with their curled presence. They wake us, greet us, protect us, and ultimately carve a place in our hearts and our history. On reflection, our lives are often referenced in parts defined by the all-too-short lives of our dogs."

Debbie was also commission to create the beautiful painting of Sirius, the lone bomb siffing dog who was killed in the WTC 9/11 attacks. The painting was presented to the NYNJPAPD during a memorial service for Sirius. Read more about this painting HERE. And you can view photos from the touching (grab some tissues!) memorial service for Sirius, HERE, who received full police honors!
