Welcome to Applewood Farm and thank you for visiting!
Applewood Farm is located close to Lake Michigan on the Illinois/Wisconsin borders in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. We are approximately 1 hour between O'Hare Airport in Chicago and Mitchell Airport in Milwaukee...just 12 Miles north of Six Flags Great America. We're in Kenosha County, Wisconsin. The Great Midwest!
Applewood Farm is a semi-private, full service equine facility. We offer lessons, training, boarding and breeding, as well as buying and selling. Our 6 acre farm is located just 5 minutes (by trailer) from the local forest preserves and horse trails. We have indoor and outdoor arenas, 13 stalls and 5 different paddocks. Our indoor arena is 65' x 135' and we have enlarging our outdoor arena to 80' x 150'. Stalls are all matted and measure either 12' x 10' or 12' x 12' in size. The viewing room and tack room are heated. Although we are not full of tongue-in-groove heated stalls, our stables are home to many happy, healthy horses and our boarders enjoy it. Our clients include boarders, those requesting lessons, training...from beginner to advanced...from trail riders to show riders.
We strive at keeping an atmosphere of pleasure. Our horses are our life and we'll treat yours like "one of the family!" But we also can provide a very competitive showing experience which can come well within the reach of your average horse owners. Our current show involvement consists of A, B and Open Shows in the Midwest. Our goal is to help you learn to enjoy, love, understand and work with your horse, just as well as we have bonded with our horses. Many horses/owners arrive at our door due to problems in their relationship. But we know this is a two-way street and we are proud of our many success stories! We teach our riders how to properly care for their horses...if shortcuts are necessary, we explain which ones are acceptable and what care should never be skipped. We want you to understand how to ride...why you do certain things...how to ride "together" with your horse...balanced, so both you and your horse are comfortable and enjoy your time together. You can and will build a relationship with your horse...young or old. You should be enjoying every horse to its fullest and we'll teach you how!
If you have any ideas or questions feel free to email us. Take a peek at our horses and please be sure you add a few notes to our guest book!
