In Loving Memory of
Andrew Wade, a former Antioch High School student and star soccer player, died March 9 in Bagram, Afghanistan. Wade was a soldier with the 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division.
Having just moved to Antioch in 2010, Andrew was now my neighbor, which caused this to hurt even more as all talk in the town was about how sad it was to lose one of our own.
Mission briefing with Patriot Guard as they await arrival of Spc Andrew Wade's body into Waukegan airport.
Bringing Andrew home for the last time.
(I'm up there in the middle with a semi large flag on my bike, but as often happens...I somehow end up behind a bike with a much larger flag, so I'm obscured.)
Very emotional flyover!
After helping his family bring Andrew home for the last time, there was visitation that day and the next...in the rain with a lot of young Boy Scouts...another quite touching scene for the hundreds who same to pay their respects.
Rest in Peace, Andrew...and THANK YOU for your service and ultimate sacrifice to our country! Sorry I never got to meet you, neighbor!
On September 17, 2011, Andrew's family held a memorial ride to benefit a local food pantry in honor of Andrew. See the photostory of that Andrew Wade Memorial Ride here: PGR_Wade_Memorial Ride
